In 2021, The Barb Shop started with a simple idea: Short hair deserves its own space. For too long, the beauty industry centered long hair. People with bobs, fades, and buzz cuts were often an afterthought. So we decided to build something different. The Barb Shop began as an online brand creating products specifically for short hair, centering women and others who have felt overlooked in the beauty industry. What started online quickly became a community. Today, that community lives right here on Cortland Ave. The Barb Shop is a specialty short-hair studio and neighborhood gathering place built around great haircuts, thoughtfully-made products, and a few sweet treats.
