Sheena and Megan cofounders of Barb

We founded Barb to give people with short hair a home.

Who is Barb?

Hello, Barbs!

Allow us to introduce ourselves - we are Sheena Lister (she/her) and Megan Andrews (they/she), the co-founders of Barb.

Throughout our individual short-haired journeys, we each found ourselves stuck between two traditional worlds -- salons and barbershops.

We also encountered the same struggle as we browsed the aisles or pulled up our social media feeds. We simply were not represented in the short hair space.

Why Barb?

We came together over our shared experiences realizing that all the physical spaces, products, and images of short-haired people we saw in the world were made-for-and-marketed-to men.

Sheena felt that salons were spaces where she could get a great haircut but the cost for a short cut every 8-12 weeks was not sustainable. And while barbershops had expertise in short hair styles, she was often the only woman sitting in a chair.

Megan felt nearly invisible in a world where hair styling products and style inspiration fell almost entirely into the binary world of men's and women's categories.

Where do we fit?

Barb centers women, trans, and non-binary people in its imagery and inspiration because representation matters. But don't get us wrong -- our products are designed to be gender neutral, and they will work for all short-haired humans. Bottom line, we created the best pomade we've ever tried and we hope you agree.

While we're hard at work making the best styling products out there, we're also working to evolve the hair and beauty industries to a more inclusive and expansive space, where we can all express and celebrate our own personal style.

Love, Barb

We are so grateful you've found us and we hope you'll join us on our journey. Please feel free to drop us a line at and one of us will personally get back to you.

In the meantime, GoBarb! And always Do You.

With Love,

Sheena and Megan
